Yellow Vespa

While going thtough "old" pictures (it’s only from may) I found this yellow Vespa I had forgotten about… (yes, it appears we’re finally going to frame some pics!!!)
Buceando por fotos "antiguas" (en realidad es de hace tres meses), me acabo de encontrar con esta Vespa amarilla que se me había olvidado… y es que sí, parece que finalmente nos lanzamos a colgar fotos!!

Strange name for a motorbike, but then I don’t know anything about them. I just like the mirrors, think they’re really funny. . .but can’t be very practicle !
WAIT

When you’ve been away from home for a long time, it’s the little things you miss. So while this is kind of a boring shot, I’m going to ask to be granted the self-indulgence to (a) have taken it in the first place, and (b) to then go and post it to my stream….
There was a bit of a happy accident with this shot, I took it at f/8 in fading light, told myself off right afterwards for wasting film, but wouldn’t have got the blurry motorbike if I’d not made that mistake…

History Road Show

Harry – one of the museum volunteers – astride a 1910 Excelsior KB Autocycle 30… It was his "job" for the day to ride the motorbike around, and to tinker with it as well to keep it running…
It runs a single-cylinder engine, powered by a 3.5 HP engine that tops out at about 50 MPH… This is believed to be the only running example of a 1910 Excelsior anywhere in the world…
[I attended the annual History Road show, at the Reynolds Alberta (Transport) Museum here in Alberta, almost didn't go because of the threat of rain...]

A typical view on "Camp Start" during the Cardion ab Grand Prix of the Czech republic. What some people did with their motorbikes was hard to believe – simply have a look on the end of this row. (2007-08-19)

Freedom ( I Have Been Tagged )

I have been tagged by Jill. So here it is:
1.This is harder than I thought…
2.I first started taking photos (with a decent camera) in Dec 2008 so I am very new to photography.
3.I only have two addictions: my camera and my work. I work in IT and love it to bits.
4.I am way too picky and stubborn and I pay too much attention to detail.
5.Everything has to be perfect or not at all.
6.I think I know everything but I don’t and I hate that part about me.
7.I am born Serbian then migrated with parents to Australia in 1995.
8.I am very un-photogenic, I simply don’t know what to do in front of the camera, only behind it.
9.I am getting married! Next year in Jan (seems so far away).
10.My fiancé is Indonesian. Now how’s that for a mix? Can’t wait to see what our children are going to look like.
11.I love Volkswagens, new and old, but would ideally own a 1967 Shelby.
12.I dreamed of being a fighter pilot.
13.I fear heights. Hate balconies, sudden drops, ladders, elevators and escalators, etc. Feels like I start to fall as soon as I get close and I really freak out. I’m ok on a plane though, love a window seat.
14.I have a beautiful little niece which I adore. You would have seen a photo of her in my stream.
15.I hate mess.
16.I don’t have a facebook account, and I am probably the last person on this planet not to have one.
And to keep the roll, here are my picks:
1. Arielle
2. Jeff
3. Chris
4. Jdee
4. Rafa
Sorry guys

What’s Hiding in Your Neighbours Garage?

1952 Velocette police motorbike
Drove by a garage in the neighbourhood (that I’ve driven by dozens of times), today it was open and saw this car inside, just had to stop by and say "hi" to the guy. He also showed me this neat old police motobike he owns , it may look a little nasty but is in good original condition and still an excellent runner.
I also told him about the upcoming British/European show in September, he told me he hopes to take his motorbike to the show. If he is there with it I’ll try to get a better picture than this one…
[for posting to another group, and enjoy...]

Letter on reverse (below) dated 21.3.15 at Avesnes (Northern France).
A group of well armed motorcycle dispatch riders Kradfahrer and some Eisenbahner.
Kraftfahrer and Kradfahrer were a branch of the German military in an era where most of the logistic transportation was provided by horse and wagon. The mechanical transport services were only employed when insufficient railway facilities existed. Each Arnt had a mechanical transport park (Armee-Kraftwagenpark), a pool of horses and wagons, motorcycle detachment, a postal lorry park, a motor ambulance convoy and an Army artillery tractor park.
The kraftfahrer (motor-vehicle driver) wore, especially during winter time, leather tunics, trousers, overcoats and caps, called Lederanzug. The leather garment offered much better protection against weather conditions compared to the cloth equivalent. The first Lederanzug was issued in 1907.

Otro trabajo infantil

Modif from next pic (crop, sat)
Here in av. Prospero (close to an entry to Belen’s market). This job implies quite a lot of responsability for a kid (not every one can buy a motorbike!). He parks the bikes for his clients, look after them, put the cardboards (which keep the seats cool and clean)…spots the client coming back and makes his bike ready to go…and get payed, about 20 centimos de Nuevo Sol (ca 9 cents of AUD / ca 6 cents of US $ / ca 5 cent Euro).
