Electric Bikes Vs Scooters
Electric Bikes Vs Scooters
Electric Bikes are manufactured to only fit one person and can carry a small stuff. They are not expensive and have a good speed, unlike scooters which are slower and need a lot of energy. On the other hand, the motorbikes are very noisy nothing likes electric bikes which are quite, efficient and clean. There are many advantages about the Electric Bikes compared to the motorbike and the scooters.
Mountain electric bikes are very effective when climbing hills. It has an increased speed when one is climbing hills and does away with the incline factor that one view. An electric bike can manage to go up the hill in 10% at a scale of 1 to 10 with ease at a maximum incline of 80%. Scooters cannot handle hills and the motorbike is not fast enough when climbing the hills even in the countryside where the electric bike makes the effect to be amazing. A motorbike is very expensive compared to the electric bike which has favorable prices. The only expense that might be associated with an electric bike is the battery but that tends to be not that expensive as well. Taking an Ezip Electric bike, the batter that these bikes run for only cost 0. Therefore an electric bike can save you a lot of money compared to a motorbike.
A regular bike is defiantly lighter than an electric bike but the electric bike is more effective in case you get tired from exercising and this gives to building personal fitness. A motorbike and scooter can not be used for exercise purposes, only for fun and they do not apply any energy and will most likely end up making one gain weight. Other advantages are that it is neat green and clean in that it does not increase or affect global warming. In conclusion, it’s safer and more convenient to use an electric bike than a electric scooter or motorbike.

Question by jhengssulee: Why so many scooters in Taiwan?
For a rich country like Taiwan, why are there so many scooters and motorbikes rather than cars? Similar countries like S Korea and Japan don’t have the phenomenon.
Best answer:
Answer by Carry On..!
Cars are relatively expensive and there isn’t a great deal of space to park especially in the cities, despite almost every housing complex having subterranean car parking, therefore you will see many , and I mean many taxis and scooters. Scooters allow the young some independence, they are often the most practical solution for others, they are cheap to run/repair, far more economical, can be parked very easily outside shops/homes and are far quicker when going around built up areas. On the main rural routes, they’re more fun than practical if I’m totally honest, especially with two up, and can really struggle up some of the steeper inclines.

DAKAR BIKES 2010 Argentina Chile
Tribute to DAKAR BIKES 2010 Argentina Chile. The Dakar rally raid (ex Paris Dakar), an adventure in Africa. The Dakar spirit is found at the crossroads of several passions. Beyond being an impossible to avoid and unique event in the motor racing world, it is also a unique human experience. The rally’s history, the performance of some and the struggles of others, remind each of us that the Dakar is above all else a sentimental and emotional affair. The competitors are most attached to this dimension. This is what explains, for example, the survival of the idea of mutual aid within the caravan. The adventure began back in 1977, when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from the sands in extremis, he returned to France still in thrall to this landscape and promising himself he would share his fascination with as many people as possible. He proceeded to come up with a route starting in Europe, continuing to Algiers and crossing Agadez before eventually finishing at Dakar. The founder coined a motto for his inspiration: “A challenge for those who go. A dream for those who stay behind.” Courtesy of his great conviction and that modicum of madness peculiar to all great ideas, the plan quickly became a reality. Since then, the Paris-Dakar, a unique event sparked by the spirit of adventure, open to all riders and carrying a message of friendship between all men, has never failed to challenge, surprise and excite. Learner-legal bikes on a budget: recommendations?
I am looking at buying a 125 as a town runabout, as my big 2L car is such a waste of fuel for in-town trips and such a pain to find/pay for parking.
I have my CBT certificate, so I am only interested in learner-legals. I want a geared bike as I want to get some practise and experience for when I take DAS in 6-9 months or so when I’ve saved up enough money.
My budget is about £1200-1500 for bike, full set of kit (except helmet, I have one) and TPFT insurance.
I don’t want a 2-stroke (e.g. Aprilia), and would rather stick with established manufacturers than Chinese copies.
I am also 5″6 tall and might find bikes with a huge seat height difficult.
I have narrowed it down to the CG125 or YBR125. The CBR125 is nice and gets great reviews, but probably too expensive (same for the Varadero 125).
Opinions on which is better? Any other models I should be looking at? How much have other members spent on similar bikes?

Question by PRATYUSH: Do you like this article? Please comment. Is it harsh or humorous?
I visited Mumbai recently and agree with the observations about driving. For the benefit of every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting India and daring to drive on Indian roads, I am offering a few hints for survival. They are applicable to every place in India except Bihar, where life outside a vehicle is only marginally safer.
Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you do your best and leave the results to your insurance company.
The hints are as follows:
Do we drive on the left or right of the road? The answer is “both”. Basically you start on the left of the road, unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in chess.
1. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional fatality.
2. Most drivers don’t drive, but just aim their vehicles in the intended direction. Don’t you get discouraged or underestimate yourself. Except for a belief in reincarnation, the other drivers are not in any better position.
3. Don’t stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the back. Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but then, let us not talk ill of the dead.
4. Blowing your horn is not a sign of protest as in some countries. We horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust (two brisk blasts) or just to mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of the bazaar.
5. Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister’s motorcade, or waiting for the rain waters to recede when over-ground traffic meets underground drainage.
6. Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience (for those with the mental makeup of Genghis Khan). In a way, it is like playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon passes. Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in the truck is the driver and the peg of illicit arrack he has had at the last stop; his total cerebral functions add up to little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to investigate. You may prove your point posthumously. Of course, all this occurs at night, on the trunk roads.
During the daytime, trucks are more visible, except that the drivers will never show any signal. (And you must watch for the absent signals; they are a greater threat.) Only, you will often observe that the cleaner that sits next to the driver will project his hand and wave hysterically. This is definitely not to be construed as a signal for a left turn. The waving is just an expression of physical relief on a hot day.
Occasionally you might see what looks like an UFO with blinking colored lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrim buses go at breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty, often meeting with success.
Unique to Indian traffic:
Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi)
The result of a collision between a rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified fare.
After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course, the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn Newton’s laws of motion en route to school. Auto-rickshaw drivers follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur and are licensed to irritate.
Mopeds
The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough for a ride

Having Big Fun with Super Pocket Bikes
Having Big Fun with Super Pocket Bikes
Are you an avid biking fan, and looking for something new and unique to get into? Why not get one of those nifty super pocket bikes for yourself? Pocket bikes have been around for some time, attracting the curiosity of biking and racing enthusiasts everywhere… though for the most part they’re written off as merely toys.
But once you’ve gotten your hands on one of those bikes, you’ll know they aren’t just toys — they’re a work of art. Miniaturization comes with a great deal of work and dedication, and only true artistes in the craft of motorcycle design can come up with something as innovative and fun as a minibike.
And a super pocket bike belongs to a whole new breed of miniature motorcycles altogether. Make no mistake — just as there are many kinds of regular motorbikes, there are also different kinds of this kind of bike. The ones that are called “super” are larger in size and bulk than the regular ones. They have earned the “super” tag primarily because of their size, but also because they can be more powerful, faster than the regular pocket motorbikes – staying in that comfortable middle ground between pocket size and regular size.
In Japan, the home of the “minimoto” or mini motorcycle (only one of the many names for this type of bike) making things small is a big deal. For one thing, it makes them a lot cheaper and more functional. For another, it makes them cuter! And cute is another big thing in Japan, though probably less for “boy toys” like racing bikes. Over in Japan, very small mobile phones, television sets, and whole entertainment systems are accessible to just about anyone. Very small bikes are no exception.
Japan rules the Orient when it comes to developing miniaturization technology. In the West, arguably, miniaturization is bigger in Germany than in any other country… and yet it is not Germany but Italy that leads the way in the industry of manufacturing pocket bikes. Excellent makers of regular bikes in Italy have taken to making top-quality pocket motorbikes as well, for the serious collectors.
Super pocket bikes are more comfortable to ride in than the regular minibike — definitely a must for the serious racing enthusiast. Developing these bigger “tiny bikes” comes with a lot of care. And as with anything else in your life, you would want quality. Reliable manufacturers such as Suzuki and Kawasaki should be a good place to start looking for guaranteed quality machines.

Question by Annika: I can’t remember this movie title!!?
I can’t remember the title of a movie I saw ages ago. It was about a kid who was sent to a foster home and he had a pet turtle and I think they fed it carrots. He talked to an old lady at a retirement home nearby and she like turkish delight (I think). He overhears his foster parents saying something about being sent away, and think they’re talking about him but they’re really talking about the Mum. He runs away with the old lady who he calls Grandma and they somehow go to a circus, getting a ride there on a huge car truck where they get into one of the cars on the back of it. At the circus there is a sort of school and the boy ends up doing the motorbike tricks in the metal circle. While doing a circus act, the Grandma is sent to hospital and that’s where the Foster parents find them. They sort everything out and the Grandma (who never liked her retirement home either) ends up living and the 4 all live together. Help!!! It was also based on a book (I think it had golden in the title)

Street Bikes Battling Today’s Fuel Prices
The street bike is often viewed as a recreational toy, a luxury afforded to those with the two-wheeled fever. Street bikes are also associated with the daredevil, the person who lives on the edge and takes life one day at a time. The reality however, is miles away from here. Street bikes are ridden by individuals from all walks of life including professionals like doctors and lawyers for example. The old stereotype of law breaking rebels and individuals who do not respect their own livelihood has begun to fade. A new era in the age of environmental abuse and overpriced fuels has begun. Riding a street bike for reasons such as fuel economy and reliability are taking hold around the world. An economical street bike can be safely navigate through city streets, country roads, and interstate highways. Prime examples are a trip to the store and transportation to and from work, the practical use of street bikes is rising at record rates. Generally speaking, street bike accidents and fatalities typically draw more media attention than serious injuries and fatalities in other types of motor vehicles. Because of this, the street bike is still considered dangerous by many non-riders, although it is finally beginning to emerge as a viable means of low-cost transportation.
According to the most recent figures released from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the average gas mileage for new vehicles sold in the USA averages about 24.7 mpg. This includes all vehicles from economy cars to full-size standard pickup trucks. The motorcycle however varies greatly proportionately with the engine size. Street bike engines range from 250cc to 1800cc therefore fuel use can range anywhere between 37 miles per gallon on the low end to as much as 65 miles per gallon on the high end. The size, design, and configuration of the engines greatly affects overall fuel economy. Differences in street bike engine design include liquid cooled or air cooled engines as well as single, two, or four cylinder configurations. The phenomenal fuel savings of motorcycle travel versus car and truck travel is overshadowed by two very important factors, safety and comfort.
Beside exposure to other motorists as well as the roadway and the increased safety risk involved in riding a street bike, other elements can reduce the practicality of motorcycle travel. Weather is of course the number one negative factor. It is no fun, nor is it comfortable to ride in the rain. The decreased visibility coupled with the soggy discomfort of wet clothing makes for dismal travel. Air temperature can also play a part in the motorcyclist’s discomfort. Temperatures above 90 degrees and below 50 degrees are not ideal for riding a street bike. Higher temperatures also introduce the tendency to wear less clothing which can be catastrophic in the event of an accident. Other negatives when comparing street bikes to cars and trucks would be limited capability for carrying passengers as well as carrying cargo. Road hazards such as potholes and loose gravel and debris can be far more critical to a street motorcycle than to four wheeled motor vehicles also.
Although there are some downsides to riding a street bike versus an average economy car, more and more people are putting on the helmets and giving the two-wheeled experience a try. The allure of open air travel combined with a real value per mile in terms of gas mileage are enough to continue to attract new riders into the world of street bikes.
